Pembrokeshire mother's heartbreak after losing six-year-old daughter to cancer
A mother from Pembrokeshire remains heartbroken after losing her six-year-old daughter to cancer last year.
Tasha Randall and Casey Jones, from Neyland, lost Destiny to an aggressive form of cancer on August 3, 2024, at 2am.
Destiny meant the ‘absolute world’ to Tasha and died one month after being diagnosed with an incurable cancer in July 2024 at Glangwili Hospital.
Tasha said: “I had a still born baby fifteen years ago and after that the nurse told me I would never have children again.
“She was my absolute world. She meant more to me than life itself and it is hard to carry on here without her. Even my dog misses her everyday because they were best friends. They would cuddle up on the sofa together.
“My daughter used to love fast cars. Sometimes I will drive my car around. I just passed my test so whenever my head is clogged up, I go for a drive. It’s hard to wake up every day without her.”
Doctors discovered a lump on Destiny’s spine and surgeons operated to remove it, yet within a week the cancer had returned and spread rapidly to her brain.
She was transferred to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff, where tests confirmed the cancer was incurable.
Despite being told she might have up to a year to live, her condition worsened quickly, and Destiny was moved to Tŷ Hafan hospice, where staff cared for her ‘like a princess.’
Destiny was born six weeks premature and Tasha described her as a fighter; who’s sudden death turned her life ‘upside down.’
In response, close friend Jack Martin launched a fundraiser to help the family thank the hospital and hospice teams who cared for Destiny during her illness and final days.
Funds will go towards supporting Glangwili Hospital, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital, and Tŷ Hafan hospice as a gesture of gratitude for their compassion and care.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Tasha and Casey with the goal of raising £1000.
